Located in Coventry’s historic Cathedral Quarter, immerse yourself in the city’s historical seat of power and debate. 

St Mary’s Guildhall, is an award winning tourist attraction located in the city’s historic Cathedral Quarter.  

This spectacular medieval building, astonishingly escaped bombing raids during the Second World War and still stands as a testament to Coventry’s historic power and wealth. The Guildhall is home to the famous Coventry Tapestry, which along with its spectacular interiors, provides a glimpse into the Coventry’s fascinating history.

Christmas at the Guildhall

Throughout the festive period daytime visitors can discover the lavishly decorated guildhall including two real 18ft Christmas Trees visitors can also follow a fun festive trail around the Guildhall and discover clues based on the history of Christmas traditions. Suitable for children and for those young at heart!

Storytelling with Father Christmas

Join Father Christmas for a seasonal story in the great hall, gingerbread decorating in the medieval kitchen, plus enjoy exploring the spectacular historical rooms along with a range of children’s crafts at the beautifully festively decorated venue. This experience will be around an hour long.

Storytelling with Santa sessions* are being held on the following date: 2nd, 9th, 16, 23rd December 2023.*Subject to availability. 

Victorian Christmas special event

Come and take part in special Victorian themed experience on December 6th at St Mary’s Guildhall. Including Carols by the Christmas Tree in the Great Hall, mulled wine and mince pies, plus a special 1 actor performance of highlights from Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol.

These events are being held at 11 am and 2 pm on 6th Decemeber 2023. *Subject to availability.

Please note: the Guildhall will be closed on 7th & 15th December, due to private events. Please note our Christmas closing dates: the Guildhall and the Tales of Tea restaurant will be closed on Sunday 24th December and will reopen on Monday 8th January.
